The ZilliqaRoyale Minecraft testnet was successfully launched last week, marking another exciting step toward blockchain gaming. This progress signals that we’ll soon be preparing for the mainnet release and gradually shifting our development focus to the BLOX Unity SDK. To mirror ZilliqaRoyale’s success, we’ll also develop the Unity SDK through a proof-of-concept.
One key approach for this proof-of-concept involves creating either a basic desktop application that can interact with the blockchain and tokenize items, or something more dynamic. While the desktop application option would be time-efficient, it wouldn’t offer the most engaging experience for users.
To genuinely showcase the potential of the BLOX-SDK and inspire developers to build with it, we’ve chosen to create an interactive game. Specifically, we’re working on a mobile clicker/idle game—a genre known for its simplicity and ability to reward players with in-game currency. Idle games are particularly well-suited for our SDK’s capabilities, with features such as:
Easy to understand
Everyone can easily play and understand an idle game, wether you’re an avid gamer or just play Candy Crush.
Rewards in currency
In clicker / idle games players are often rewarded in currencies such as virtual dollars, or in the best known clicker game ‘cookie clicker’ cookies. A comparable system to cryptocurrency staking / mining.
Shop / marketplace
Clicker / idle games often have marketplaces in which players can purchase upgrades or items which enhance and or speed up their in-game progress.
These features align perfectly with our SDK’s functionality, enabling tokenization of in-game items, token-based rewards, and trading on decentralized marketplaces. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be diving deeper into developing the clicker/idle game concept, making significant strides toward the Unity SDK’s release.
In parallel, we’re also preparing to launch ZilliqaRoyale on the mainnet, which serves as another pivotal moment for BLOX’s blockchain integration within Minecraft. As we continue adding new content to ZilliqaRoyale, our ultimate goal is to expand support to other cryptocurrencies, including Ethereum. This broadens the platform’s reach and further enhances the game’s potential as a truly multi-chain experience.
